Why is puppy school important?

Up until 16 weeks of age, puppies are in the critical socialisation development phase in which they absorb the most information and form behaviours that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. It is important to ensure they are introduced to a number of different experiences, socialised with other dogs of different breeds and sizes, and are given boundaries and structure. Many of these attributes can be gained by taking your puppy out and taking your puppy to obedience training when they are old enough. Puppy school is additionally important to help desensitise your puppy to the veterinary clinic, and since puppy school eventuated over 20 years ago, there has been a shown benefit to puppies attending puppy school within the veterinary clinic setting, allowing them to enjoy attending the vet when they are older. This is why we conduct our puppy school in house.
