Veterinary Nurse Placement
We are proud to be able to provide students studying veterinary nursing a veterinary clinic to develop their skills and apply their theoretical knowledge. Placements last for 12 weeks where student vet nurses will be involved in providing assistance to vets in consultations and procedures, surgical monitoring, animal husbandry, customer service and general clinic maintenance.
To be eligible for a veterinary nurse placement at Doncaster Veterinary Hospital, you must be studying a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Box Hill TAFE.
To learn more about availability for vet nursing placements, please use the contact form on our Contact page.
Year 10 Work Experience
We also provide work experience placements for local year 10 students with an interest in veterinary science or vet nursing. Students are allowed to shadow vets in consultations, watch surgical procedures, assist in handling animals and of course, general cleaning duties.
PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, due to COVID and changing restrictions, we have decided to postpone any and all acceptance for placements for the foreseeable future.
Please have a look at alternate options such as grooming salons (a great way to learn about dog breeds), animal shelters (Animal Aid, Blue Cross, Lost Dogs Home, Lort Smith Animal Hospital - always looking for volunteers) or Dog minding/boarding (always need volunteers as well).
